We are removing the fixed schedule of times and the location that we meet.<br />
<br />
Our heart is that we continue to gather together as the Spirit leads.<br />
<br />
We envision a gathering each week or so (without a fixed schedule but plenty of notice)… where we continue to conversationally enter into the seemingly difficult scriptures, the challenging questions of life, tell relational stories, hear His wisdom, share a meal and grow closer together free of expectations. The days, locations and facilitators of these gatherings and conversations will vary… you will have to be intentional for this to be a part of your life.<br />
<br />
It could also possibly be a monthly/bi-monthly/quarterly (or totally random) larger gathering of individuals and families from the broader community of His church that our Lord has knit together. Maybe we hear where the Lord is working, we share stories, paint, swim on the beach, teach the kids to paddle board. We see the kids listening to the old (er) folks laugh and talk, they will catch more of Jesus from our joy than ever could be taught in a classroom.<br />
<br />
So, there you go, it’s a bit unknown, a new beginning, a continuation of 18 years of relationships, a journey into hopefully a richer, more intentional experience of this beautiful creation that He calls His Body…His Church. We hope you walk with us down this path, we are excited!<br />

We will meet for one service at <b><u>10AM in the Breakfast Club building</u></b>. That’s right… an earlier service… so try to be on time. We will have some good eats and coffee available at 9:30am. I have no doubt “The mind of man plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.” Proverbs 16:9<br /><br />For me the “call” I heard to ministry 22 years ago was a call to keep people away from screwing up the way I had. But no one knew my story. No one knew my ugly. Ugly was not allowed. So there was a lot of application, very little relationship and that is<span class="text_exposed_show" style="display: inline; font-family: inherit;"> what drove me to ministry planning. Those best laid ministry plans were continually confronted by messy people who would not cooperate with… my plans. So, like a good pastor, I condemned the messy (the ugly) and redoubled my efforts...my planning. My frustration increased and I wondered…”Is this real ministry and if not, what is ministry?”<br /><br />At times it seems like the years of seeing what “ministry” really was in God’s Kingdom had very little to do with what had become my “READY… FIRE… AIM” philosophy of application planning. I found that real ministry had nothing to do with my best intentions and carefully crafted plans and everything to do with being delivered into His movement in spite of my best strategies. As the years have passed it has come to look like waking up each day opening my eyes to the revelation,“Oh, THAT’S what You’ve been doing!”<br /><br />So here’s the “THAT” that my eyes have been opened to… it’s all about story, our Sacred story. This Sacred story is where the past (the old) intersects the present (the new). John writes about this intersection in 1 John 2:<br /><br /><b>Beloved, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word which you have heard. On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining. 1 John 2:7-8</b><br /><br />In this passage the old meets the new. What they had from the beginning, which was written on tablets of stone, which had become for them a platform of comparison, had now become a reality in them. The blind could now see. They were in. It was now a living commandment that found its realness in being written “in” not “on.” In where? In their inner most being, <b>“For in my inner being I delight in God’s law” (Romans 7:22) and “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,” (Eph. 3:16).</b><br /><br />Our Sacred Story is an expression… a confession of our inner being; a being that is in union with Christ. The lie of living by appearance showcased through the Law is destroyed through the Spirit of adoption, the Spirit of belonging. Our story begins in the ugliness of the lie and ends in the beauty of the beloved, the oneness of being found “in”.<br /><br />So ministry is as simple as the sharing of our story, the beginning and the end. What began in ugly now ends in beauty. It is a present tense beauty. That’s our Life (no matter our sins, our failures or our successes) because what is real has moved from measurement to story. If you list your successes or your failures you will put me to sleep. Tell me a really good story… I will wake up and hang on every word.</span></div>

My thought is that the tithe was a picture of us being set apart into Christ, the body of Christ. We know that the Law was a shadow that found it's substance, it's fulfillment in Christ. Once the substance of the shadow had come (was fulfilled) the tithe (shadow) is no longer needed. It would be like us continuing to make sacrifices even though the perfect sacrifice was made once and for all. It would be like our gaze following the shadow to the one casting the shadow but then continuing to look at the shadow.</div>

Is it a faith issue for churches when it comes to tithing (can God really provide everything we need?)</div>

It is definitely an issue for me in my relating about finances with Grace Life. Who is to say that the practical need has to be met? What if God decides it is time for the church, as it is known in a particular expression, to cease? But my lack of belief in His ordering our steps just drives me back to His sufficiency and away from mine. And...it drives me back to His version of outcomes and the knowledge that I can't screw it up. That is why as a pastor I am forced to hold Grace Life with an open hand or go crazy with my fleshly control. </div>

It has to be God showing up for a pastor to give up control and the "right" for a particular appearance of a church to continue. Especially... if you are a pastor who’s significance, salary and insurance are tied to the church continuing. I respect pastors who find themselves in this position and STILL proclaim the fulfillment of the shadow, this sharing of risky Truth has to be in the strength of Christ. Holding the church with an "open hand" is the only way pastors will not use every tool of manipulation to get people to give their money to a church, including the tithe. What if instead of bringing the Law back a pastor instead said, "Hey we need this… amount of money if we want to continue as we are now. If you share our vision... give to it." Seems to be kind of simple.</div>

<span style="text-align: left;">What a great Winter Retreat! The weather was a little dreary to begin with and even through the rain and the clouds, the Son was shining every second! As we were told in the movie "Unconditional" the Son is always there - even in the cloudy days. ESPECIALLY in the cloudy days! We got to KNOW each other better and we came to KNOW that the Love of Jesus is truly unending and unconditional. These teens are amazing! Their lives have had some struggles, but their Life is always shining through! A special thanks to our new friend Kasey Weaver and our long time example of love, Mitch Massaconi for all of the love, richness and elbow grease that they brought! Ms. Cindy and Ms. Tracy SO loved having you with us!!!!</span></div>
